5000L Horizontal Ribbon Mixer

The LRMIX 5000L horizontal ribbon mixer is an industrial-grade solution built for large-batch mixing of powders, granules and powder-liquid blends, serving chemical, coating, feed and building material production lines. At its core sits an inner/outer double ribbon agitator inside a U-shaped trough — the outer ribbon pushes material from both ends toward the center while the inner ribbon pushes it back outward, creating continuous convection that outperforms single-direction agitation. The drive system pairs a 37kW motor with a ZLY-250 hardened-tooth-surface gearbox through belt transmission, and contact parts are available in 201, 304 or 316L stainless steel to match different corrosion-resistance requirements. For processes needing temperature control or dust-free loading, an optional heating/cooling jacket and vacuum loading system extend the machine to a wider range of batch mixing applications.

The LRMIX 5000L Horizontal Ribbon Mixer is built for high-volume batch mixing of powders, granules and powder-liquid blends. Driven by a 37kW motor through a ZLY-250 hardened-tooth-surface gearbox with belt transmission, it uses an inner/outer double ribbon agitator to achieve fast, uniform mixing. Contact parts are available in 201, 304 or 316L stainless steel to match your material and budget requirements.

A Horizontal Ribbon Mixing Solution for Large-Batch Powder Processing

This 5000L horizontal ribbon mixer uses a U-shaped trough fitted with an inner and outer double helical ribbon agitator. The outer ribbon moves material from both ends toward the center, while the inner ribbon moves material from the center outward — the two ribbons working in opposite directions create continuous convective mixing across both the radial and axial planes, cutting mixing time and improving uniformity. A 37kW motor drives a ZLY-250 hardened-tooth-surface gearbox through belt transmission, and contact parts are available in 201, 304 or 316L stainless steel. It’s well suited to large-batch powder, granule and powder-liquid mixing across chemical, coating, feed, building materials and pigment production.

Common Challenges in Batch Powder Mixing

Uneven Mixing
Standard agitators leave dead zones, especially near the center and ends of large-volume vessels, where material never gets fully turned over.
Long Mixing Times
Single-direction agitation is inefficient, requiring longer cycles to reach uniformity and limiting overall throughput.
Residual Material Buildup
Incomplete bottom discharge leaves material behind, causing cross-contamination between batches.
Limited Process Flexibility
A single-function mixer can’t accommodate materials that need temperature control or dust-free, enclosed loading.

Why Choose This Horizontal Ribbon Mixer

Inner/Outer Double Ribbon Convection Mixing
Counter-directional inner and outer ribbons generate combined radial and axial movement, shortening mixing time and improving uniformity.
37kW Motor + ZLY-250 Hardened-Tooth Gearbox
High-power drive reliably handles the full 5000L batch, while the hardened-tooth-surface gearbox delivers higher transmission precision, lower noise and longer service life than standard cycloidal gearboxes.
201 / 304 / 316L Stainless Steel Contact Parts
Material grade can be matched to your process — 316L for superior corrosion resistance and purity-sensitive applications, or 304/201 for standard-duty, cost-sensitive processes.
Center-Bottom Discharge, Virtually No Dead Zone
The outer ribbon actively pushes material toward the discharge valve, leaving minimal residue and reducing cross-contamination between batches.
Optional Heating / Cooling Jacket
Available for processes that require temperature control during mixing, such as melting or crystallization-sensitive materials.
Optional Vacuum Loading System
Enables enclosed, dust-free material loading — improves the working environment and suits materials prone to airborne dust.

How Does a Horizontal Ribbon Mixer Work?

1. Loading — Material is charged through the top inlet of the U-shaped trough. If the vacuum loading option is fitted, material is fed through a sealed line under negative pressure to minimize dust release.
2. Two-Way Convective Mixing — The motor drives the gearbox via belt transmission, rotating the inner and outer ribbons together. The outer ribbon pushes material from both ends toward the center; the inner ribbon pushes material from the center toward both ends, creating continuous radial and axial convection.
3. Temperature Control (Optional) — If a heating or cooling jacket is fitted, material temperature can be adjusted during mixing to meet specific process requirements.
4. Discharging — Once mixing is complete, material is released through the center-bottom discharge valve; the outer ribbon’s pushing action helps clear the trough with minimal residue.

FAQ

Can the contact parts be made from a different material?

Yes. 316L stainless steel is the standard option; 304 or 201 stainless steel can be selected instead depending on your process and budget.

Can vacuum loading be added?

Yes, vacuum loading is available as an option — well suited to dusty materials or processes requiring enclosed loading.

Does it support heating or cooling?

Yes, an optional jacket can be fitted for processes that require temperature control during mixing.

Does material residue remain after discharge?

The inner/outer double ribbon design combined with center-bottom discharge leaves virtually no dead zone, so residue is minimal.

Why use a ZLY-250 hardened-tooth-surface gearbox?

Compared to a standard cycloidal gearbox, a hardened-tooth-surface gearbox offers higher transmission efficiency and load capacity, making it better suited to continuously driving a 5000L batch.
